The Fightin’ Prairie Dog is the infamous mascot of RVU’s Colorado campus, a scrappy little rodent wearing boxing shorts and gloves, showing the world that it’s okay to have a sense of humor while in medical school. The mascot was created by the inaugural Class of 2012. Prairie dogs are known for being highly social creatures that live in large groups; they cooperate to share food and protect their fellow burrows. In this sense, the prairie dog is an accurate representation of our university, where the students, faculty, and staff work to help each other succeed, which in turn benefits the entire school and the surrounding community. The t-shirt has “Rocky Vista University” written at the top in the official university font. Below the mascot image, it says, “Fightin’ Prairie Dogs.”
